You will be required to complete assessments and produce a course portfolio of evidence

This VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Make-Up Artistry will enable you to work as a professional makeup artist. You will gain skills and knowledge in instructing clients on make-up application, media make-up including applying small ready-made prosthetic pieces, fashion and photographic make-up, camouflage make-up, face and body art. You will also have the opportunity to gain skills in airbrush make-up, styling and fitting head and facial postiche (wigs and hairpieces) or Mendhi skin decoration.

This fast track course can be completed around your commitments making it the perfect choice for those wanting a good balance of classroom teaching and home learning.

Entry requirements:

  • No previous experience - you do not need a Level 2 qualification to complete this course.
  • Good standard of English sufficient to complete the course competences and online examinations
  • Students must be over 16 years old to enrol on this course

How long is the course:

  • 18 weeks
  • 10am - 5pm (1 day a week)
  • Maximum class size: 12 students

You will also be required to practice your skills and complete independent study outside of the taught sessions.

How will I be assessed:

  • Online theory tests
  • Observations and oral questioning
  • Practical assessments and assignments
  • Portfolio evidence to demonstrate your understanding. A portfolio of evidence must also be submitted as part of the assessment criteria

Do I need to bring a model

You will only need to bring a model for the practical assessments.
At all other times students will be expected to practice on each other.

What do I need to buy for this course

You will need to purchase a uniform and a makeup kit - the cost of the uniform is £15.00 and the cost for the makeup kit is £200.00
Stationery including an A4 folder to hold your portfolio evidence and course materials.

What can I do with this qualification?

You can seek employment as a professional makeup artist or you can progress onto a other VTCT specialist hair and beauty qualifications.
